Kevin McAteer

Kevin McAteer was born and raised in Rock Hill, South Carolina. His upbringing was religious and moral, but his parents were not believers during his early childhood. His father had a massive stroke when Kevin was fifteen, and this radically changed the McAteer household. His father was left with partial paralysis, some memory loss, and impaired vision for three years. But God used that time to bring his parents to a point of saving faith. It was during a revival meeting that Kevin, his dad, his mom, his oldest brother, and his uncle were given eternal life!

Three years later, after his high school graduation, Kevin desired to attend a local college to pursue a mechanical engineering degree. However, God had other plans. During the freshman orientation, Kevin's father died of a massive heart attack. God used this event in Kevin's life, and instilled in him an unquenchable desire to enter full-time vocational ministry. Kevin earned the Associate degree of Religion and Church Ministries from Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute in Hendersonville, North Carolina, in 1997. In 1999, he earned the Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Southeastern Baptist Theological College in Wake Forest, North Carolina. On May 18, 2003, he graduated from The Master's Seminary in Sun Valley, California, with the Master of Divinity degree.

Kevin and his wife Sarah have been married since 1998. They are the parents of two children: Faith was born in February 2003 and Jonathan in December 2006.

Kevin has many responsibilities at CBC. He fills the pulpit on a weekly basis, serves as an elder, disciples a number of men, shepherds the Friday night small group, and currently teaches the monthly men's prayer breakfast.

Kevin enjoys reading the Pastoral Epistles, which provide a source of encouragement and strength. Through these books, he is reminded of his responsibilities, privileges, and accountability to the Lord.
