Poul de Gier was born in the Netherlands and moved to Canada at the age of three. He grew up in the Christian Reformed Church and at the age of eighteen was convicted of the gospel through the preaching of the Free Presbyterian Church. In the early years of his faith he started to study and embrace Reformed Baptist theology. He is a founding member of Grace Fellowship Church of Ponoka, Alberta, Canada (formerly New Covenant Baptist Reformed Church). He is a dairy farmer and preaching elder of the church. He holds a B.Sc in Biology and is self-taught in biblical languages and theology. He and his wife have four children.
