Samuel was born in 1984 and spent his entire youth in Birmingham, AL growing up in a Christian home. At an early age, the Lord gave Samuel a heart for military service. He received an appointment to the Unites States Military Academy at West Point, NY and graduated in 2007. After serving as an Army officer for six years, he began his seminary studies in 2012. He graduated in 2017, from Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and received a call to be the pastor of the Fresno Reformed Presbyterian Church in California.
