Old Testament Messianic Prophecies Part 12b or Part 12 Sermon B (1: before break)

23

SUB-PART 1 BEFORE BREAK FOR TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES. Gavin says, "In the Anglican 1662 Book of Common Prayer we find the hymn Veni, Creator Spiritus, which is a Latin title meaning, 'Come Creator Spirit;' & this hymn begins with the words, 'Come, Holy Ghost, our souls inspire, And lighten with celestial fire. Thou the anointing Spirit art, Who dost thy seven-fold gifts impart.' The words 'our souls inspire' are not using the terminology of 'inspiration' in the sense of the Divine Inspiration of Scripture found in II Tim. 3:16; but rather, in the lesser sense that God illuminates the mind with wisdom & understanding on certain matters as found in Job 32:8, 'But there is a spirit in man: & the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.' And the words of this hymn, 'Who dost thy seven-fold gifts impart,' is a reference to these sevenfold gifts of the Spirit found in the Christ in Isaiah 11:2, & which in derivative form are found as general fruits of the Spirit in Christian believers…as…in the Book of Revelation…St. John refers to the 7fold gifts of the Spirit represented in 'the seven Spirits of God' 'which are before his throne' & 'are … sent forth into all the earth' in Rev. 1:4; 4:5; & 5:6; & Rev. 3:1 where Christ saith, 'These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God'." "And so…we now come to the penultimate of the Isaiah 11:2 7fold gifts, to wit, 6thly 'the Spirit of knowledge'." And "the judgement…said to Gehazi, 'The leprosy…shall cleave unto thee, & unto thy seed for ever;' types the spiritual leprosy of God's Gal. 1:9 curse upon the Roman Papacy for its false gospel…&…Antichrist's final judgment of eternal torment in hell …Rev. 20:10."
