Throughout his life, controversy followed this champion of the Doctrine of the Trinity. Hailed as a Hero of the Faith by such as Martin Luther and John Calvin, Athanasius, Bishop of Alexandria, was sent into exile on five occasions, but his legacy of standing for the truth, against heresy and error, remains as a great benefit to the Church of our day.

This first session in the lecture by Dr. Nick Needham takes us from the early days of Athanasius life to the remarkable and dramatic death of one of his spiritual enemies, Arius, the originator of Arianism.
