Seeking Out Sinners

Why would Jesus eat with sinners? Wouldn't this make Him and His message irrelevant? Wouldn't this make Him unholy? Why would Jesus receive those whom the religious right disdained? Why...Because He loved the sinner! Is this not why we have been brought near? Is this not the mission of the Church?
