Demanding a King

The people ask for a king, but the real story centers on Samuel. When the people get ahead of God, he struggles with feelings of personal failure, vicarious fear and looming disaster. But the Lord encourages Him by making clear that the people were actually rejecting Him and that He would work even through that. We learn here much about kings, sovereignty and the burdens of serving Christ.
