Salvation, Law and Grace

Introduction: What is biblical salvation? The overall context of this passage in that biblical
salvation is NOT gained through human efforts. Turning to our own merit and goodness and away from

Christ compromises the Gospel.

Outline: Biblical Salvation is NOT . . . .

1. Conforming to Culture: (v. 14-15)
   . . . church rules, standards, rituals, etc.

2. Legalistic (v. 16-18)
   . . . founded by how well you obey the law

3. Constrictive (v. 19)
   . . . limiting life (Gospel is freeing)

We should drop legalism and pride in it, rather we should follow freedom Christ has given us in the

Gospel - proclaiming him and what he has done, not what we do.
