King James Version - Vol. 1 (Revised) Textual Commentary (Matt. 1-14)

This is a Dedication service of the Revised Volume 1 of Gavin's neo-Byzantine Textual Commentary for the Received Text and KJV on Matt. 1-14 (from 2013 at www.gavinmcgrathbooks.com). The original Vol. 1 was Dedicated 2 years earlier on Charles I's Day, 2008, the 30th anniversary year of the revival of this day in 1978 on the Anglican Calendar in Australia (following its removal in 1859); and this Revised Volume 1 was Dedicated on Charles I's Day, Saturday, 30 January, 2010, the 30th anniversary year of the revival of this day in 1980 on the Anglican Calendar in England. Gavin distances himself from anti-Protestant abuses and misuses of Charles I's Day by Puseyites. He discusses Matt. 22:21 and Matt. 24:35 with respect to the traditional support of Reformed Anglicans and Presbyterians derived from the Church of Scotland for Charles I (d. 1649) against the "seditions" and "murders" prohibited in Gal. 5:21,22, and Biblical teaching to "Honour the King" (I Peter 2:17). Through reference to a King Charles the Martyr's Day sermon by Bishop Ashe (d. 1718) at Christchurch Church of Ireland Cathedral, Dublin and the book, "Vindication of Protestants" by Canon Peter du Moulin (d. 1684) of Canterbury Cathedral, whose 1679 edition was endorsed by the Bishop of London, Henry Compton (d. 1713); Gavin discusses how the Jesuits palmed themselves off as Puritans and acted as the republic's "booster rockets." Gavin then considers Jesuit influence in the contemporary neo-Alexandrian 1993 NU Text of Nestle-Aland's 27th ed. & United Bible Society's 4th revised ed. The sermon ends with a prayer dedicating the revised Vol. 1, and a 1662 Anglican prayer book Collect for King Charles I's Day.
