The Apostle's Creed - The Person of Jesus Christ

524 ( 383 | 141 )

The first of a short two-part series on The Apostles Creed. This study being concerned with 'The Person of Jesus Christ'.

Central to the Christian Faith is that Jesus was an actual historical person, having lived, suffered, died and rose again, in history.

There are dangers in teaching a 'mystical' Jesus, as may be defined by our experiences, feelings and emotions.

He was the 'anointed one', fulfilling the unique role of prophet, priest and king, typified in His work through revelation, justification and sanctification.

Jesus was God's only Son, being fully God and fully man. He was the sinless Redeemer, not a redeemed sinner. He was the Son of God by nature, not by adoption.

The practical consequences for us of Christ being the Son of God means that we can rely on HIm for salvation, forgiveness of sins, for our spiritual rebirth, adoption, illumination, protection and guidance.

Jesus Christ is also our Lord, being our rightful Master and Sovereign, to whom we owe our allegiance.

Are these things our confession of faith?
