Are we missing the main ingredient?

Anything that is made requires some form of ingredients, but if you don't have the right ingredients something is missing. When things aren't working out it might be because we are lacking the main ingredient in order for it to work. The Bible says many will hear the gospel but they don't have the faith to act upon it. Some will hear and yet receive no profit from it because they don't do anything with it. Do we need the Lord to help us add this ingredient?
