David & The Sinful Census
Series The Life of David
41
King David sins in ordering a census, apparently motivated by personal pride rather than God's glory. He later feels remorse for his sin and is given three options from God for his punishment. He chooses to "fall into the hands of God, for his mercies are great." He then buys the threshing floor from Aruanah, refusing charity and insisting that he will "not offer to God that which has cost me nothing."
