Mt. Olive, The Mountain of Sorrows_12PT12 Sam. 15:30-31; Matt. 26:30-35The Mt. of Olives is a prominent ridge running north-south in the Judean mountains, lying due east of Jerusalem and the Kidron Valley. 3 summits with 2 intervening valleys distinguish the mountain. The northern summit is called Mt. Scopus. The central hill is the traditional Mt. of Olives standing across from the Temple platform. The southern hill, overlooking Jerusalem is called the Mt. of Offense since Solomon built temples for his foreign wives at this location. The events that took place on the Mt. of Olives in the Bible, a common factor linked with sorrow, sadness, and weeping. This is the first mention of a mountain associated with weeping. David was rejected as King and on the same spot Christ would be rejected as the messiah.
