David & The Gibeonites: Atoning Saul's Sin

A famine strikes Israel, and after David seeks the Lord he discovers the reason: Saul's sinful slaughter of the Gibeonites has brought a curse on the land. After meeting with the Gibeonites, David agrees to let them execute 7 of Saul's descendants and the curse is lifted. Many typological pictures of Christ can be seen in these who are hung as substitutionary atonements for sin that was not theirs.
