David Carmichael knew the call of God to the ministry of the Church of Scotland. As a result he enrolled in the University of Glasgow where he pursued his theological studies. He has been the minister of Abbeygreen Church of Scotland in Lesmahagow, a village 23 miles south of Glasgow, for the last 24 years The congregation, which has the feel of a real spiritual family, is now reformed and evangelical and enjoys the leadership of gifted spiritual elders. In the life of the church great prominence is given to prayer and expository preaching.

Mr Carmichael serves as Chairman of the Scottish Council of the reformed missionary organisation UFM Worldwide as well as being a member of the United Kingdom national Council. He is also Chairman, and a founder member, of what is now Scotland’s premier preaching and teaching conference, namely, The Scottish Reformed Conference. Further to this he is also the Chairman of The Scottish Reformed Ministers Fraternal.
