Undying Love

Before giving the command to love continuously, Peter gives a three-part reminder about our conversion. When you decided to become a Christian it was a decision to purify yourself by obeying the gospel – part of which commanded love, so your conversion was a movement in the direction of brotherly love. The command: keep going in that direction. Use your recollection of the purpose of your salvation to enable you to keep going in those times when you are tempted to give up on love.
