James 2 Part 7 : New Faith, New Works

Empty faith is a lot like empty compassion, hollow love. This is a fitting illustration, since our faith is directly tied to, and expressive through, love of God and love of neighbor. John ties an evident love with a genuine profession of faith together marvelously and is a central theme in his 1st epistle. We should not be surprised to see that same tie represented here in James. Here it is given as an illustration. Just like faith without works is dead, so too, words of love without the corresponding acts of love are dead. (if it is odd to see inoperable love, then the same holds true for inoperable faith)
