PRAYER FOR ALL PEOPLE—PART II

Main Idea: We must pray for all people because this is the means by which God will bring a people to Himself.
• Because of the doctrine of God (monotheism v. 5a, Deut 6:4-5)
• Because of the doctrine of salvation (soteriology v. 5b-6)
=> Mediatorship (v. 5b): Just as Moses was the mediator of the Old Covenant, Christ is the mediator of the New! (Gal 3:19-20)
=> Substitutionary atonement (ransom; v. 6, Isaiah 53:4, 5, 6, 8, 11)
• Because of the doctrine of the Church (ecclesiology...missions, evangelism and the building up the church, v. 7)
=> The Church would be composed of Gentiles as well as Jews (Gal 3:28)
=> The testimony given at the proper time (v. 7)

• Because of the doctrine of God: (His sovereignty, v. 7)
=> God appointed Paul to be a preacher, apostle, & teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth (7)
=> The testimony came at the right time (7)
• Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection
• Jesus' ransoming, atoning sacrifice

Application

We must pray for all people!
