When Grace Meets Rebellion

It’s one of the best-known stories of all time. It’s a story from God. And, one way or another, you’ll find that you’re in it. Luke 15 reaches its crescendo with Jesus’ parable of the prodigal son. It begins with the stunning exposure of a privileged son’s rebellion: “Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me.” (Luke 15:12). Rebellion always is this way: demanding, dissatisfied and, ultimately, disappointed: “... he began to be in want...” (v. 14).
