Danger of Indulging Sin

This Psalm contains a meditation upon the omniscience of God. The Psalmist David is pondering the perfect view and knowledge of every thing that the all knowing God has.

David proceeds to highlight the degree of God's perfect knowledge by making reference to God knowing of all his ways, Thou…art acquainted with all my ways, v3.

[1] This truth is further emphasised by his acknowledgement that God sees:
(i) All his actions, v2;
(ii) All his thoughts, v2;
(iii) All his words, v4.

[2] The Psalmist next highlights the degree of God's perfect knowledge by dwelling on the impossibility of fleeing from the divine presence, or of hiding from God, v7-12.

[3] He further empahises this truth by declaring the knowledge which God had of him while yet unborn, v13-16, particularly cf. v15,16.

Having mediated upon these truths the Psalmist then observes some very obvious consequences:
[1] God will slay the wicked, since He sees all their wickedness, and nothing of it is hid from Him,v19.
[2] He realises the importance of the self examination of his own heart, v22,23.
