The Soil of Slander

James commands that we not speak against one another for three reasons: 1) because speaking against a brother comes from a judgmental heart, 2) it comes from a low view of God’s law, and 3) it comes from an inflated view of self. The solution to negative speech is loving one another, restoring one another, and placing ourselves under God’s law instead of above it.
