Drawing Water from the Well: Personal and Corporate Response to the Lord's discipline and deliverance
Series Isaiah
317
Isaiah 12 teaches Christians to respond to difficulty with personal and corporate thanksgiving. We thank God that He is absolutely sovereign so we know that our difficulty is not outside of God's purpose. We rejoice because Christ has delivered us from sin, from which grows every evil.
Intro - Praise surprising in the midst of trial. But not surprising when we see the Holy One of Israel, high and exalted (chapter 6), or when we see the light shining in the darkness (ch. 7), or the Messianic Son of David ruling (ch. 11).
- Personal experience of deliverance leads to personal praise.
- Experience of deliverance leads to corporate praise.
Conclusion - As we go through trouble in this life, God calls us to praise Him, drawing water from the well of salvation. Such praise turns us away from bitterness and contempt for His ways.
