Pastors are Watchman

Christ has placed authority around His elect for their protection. We, as church members, are to submit and to obey godly church authority and in doing so the elders and ministers are to tremble with fear before the Lord Almighty. For the office of elder or minister is only appointed by God and should be taken seriously. Their job is to call and sanctify the saints. It is the function of the elders or ministers to watch over the souls of the congregation which will result in striving for the goal of salvation. For these men who are appointed by Christ will give an account on the day of judgement; therefore, by submitting and obeying to godly leadership will bring forth joy to the elders who are watching over your soul.An outline of the sermon, 4 motives for the Church to obey it's leaders and for the pastors to be watchman; 1. The office itself, "Watchman; 2. The function or goal of the office, watch over your souls, unto eternal salvation; 3. Their accountability, "for they will give an account; 4. It is to your benefit, "do this with joy".
