The Greatest Gift

THE GREATEST GIFT

Ephesians 2:8-9

So far in Ephesians 2 we have seen:

1. God's Salvation has Rescued Us from the Greatest Possible Depths v. 1-3.

2. God's work of salvation manifests the greatest love v.4-7.

Salvation truly is a great Work of God. In verses 7-19 we get a summary of this great work.

Salvation is a great work of God!!! What is so great about it?

1. God's Great Work of Salvation Raises Believers to the Greatest Heights

2. God's Great Work of Salvation Gives the Greatest Gift

   i. Knowledge

   ii. Understanding

   iii. Choice

    1. Resulting in Love
    
    2. Obedience
   
    3. Commitment to Christ
   

"For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast"

Understand the Faith that saves someone is the Gift of God. This faith is a supernatural thing. The things we are describing are not natural affections of our heart apart from God working in our hearts.

That means Salvation is without human achievement or works. It is God's Work from start to finish. You say, "What about my good deeds and good works?" They don't count regarding salvation. That would be putting the cart before the horse. Only by Faith you have been saved.
