Why should I be Baptized?

Baptize is a transliteration of a Greek word for immerse. This powerful symbolic act portrays death, burial and resurrection.

Baptism does not produce new life. God alone can give new life. Baptism demonstrates that a new life has taken place. A successful heart transplant has taken place. A public 'changing of jerseys' showing that the believer went from one team to another has occurred.

Baptism shows that God has replaced an ice cold heart of stone with a living breathing heart of flesh. The Bible claims 'no one seeks for God' but many hustle around seeking the benefits of God, but unfortunately not God himself.

While we are not free to 'want whatever we want' and change the course of our desires using our own where with all, Biblical freedom is when our desires come in line with God's desires. This is the new life and freedom in Christ resulting from a work of God.

There are no 'Lone Ranger Christians' and no one baptizes themselves. Baptism is also a sign of joining the Church, coming under a sign of Christ;s Lordship and an alternative to the culture of the world.
