Caleb's Conquest

59 ( 29 | 30 )

This morning on Father's Day I thought it would be good to look at some of the characteristics of one dad in the Bible whose name was Caleb.

Now if you're not a dad here this morning and if Father's Day is not your day, don't switch off, this message is for you to.

As we look at Caleb's life we can all learn some great PRINCIPLES for our Christian journey.

As this aged man of God surveyed his life he knew that he had given himself unreservedly to the living God.

The Apostle Paul pleads with us to do the same in the Book of Romans. He asks us to give our lives as a living sacrifice.

Rom 12:1 KJV I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

We first meet up with Caleb in the Old Testament in the book of Numbers Chapter 13.

You might remember that the Israelite's had been in slavery in Egypt under Pharaoh. They had seen God miraculously deliver His people from the Egyptians in the Exodus.

They had walked through the Red Sea with towering walls of water on either side. They had watched as the waters drowned the army of Pharaoh. They were set free by the hand of God from the bondage of the greatest Empire of the world during their day.

God not only rescued them, God provided for them after their deliverance in the wilderness. Fresh food from Heaven (Manna) miraculously appeared new every morning and they drank water that came from God that flowed out from the rock.

In the second year after their deliverance, the Lord instructed Moses to send out 12 Men from each of the 12 tribes to check out the Promised Land.
