Cheerful Giving

Devotional emphasizing motive for giving. Giving brings satisfaction knowing that I'm investing in my eternal portfolio. Giving is a tangible way of demonstrating my obedience to the second great command of loving neighbor. Giving brings eternal reward (cf. Phil 4.17). Giving comes from the heart and sin hardens the heart. Personally, I believe there is a subjectivity to giving - a strong impression that comes from the Lord that we should obey. Giving cannot be compelled by guilt. Dependable giving comes from dependable Christianity - that is, it is a discipline just like reading the Bible or praying.
