Loving because loved

"We love him because he first loved us." So simple, so profound. "We love him" is our great confession; "he first loved us" is our great motivation. All true children of God can say that we do love God, sincerely though imperfectly, as he makes himself known in Christ. How can we say this? Because we have first been the object of God's unceasing love.
