If We Can't Obey The Law, Why Did God Give It? Gal. 3:23-25 Salvation, Sanctification

"The study software on the Puritan Hard Drive is out of this world in terms of usefulness!" - Pastor W.J. Mencarow http://ow.ly/dZ3ua

This is a 'tough love' sermon; how difficult the demands of God's law really are. Difficult, as in impossible to live up to. Christians must start at the bottom, in first grade, under the harsh schoolmaster that is the law of God — thou shalt do this, thou shalt not do that. You are judged not only on what you do, but what you fail to do; sins by commission as well as sins by omission.

Not only that, but you are judged on what you think, even if you don't do it!

The law is the toughest schoolmaster in the world — he accepts no excuses, never gives you a second chance — he expects perfection 100 percent of the time and will send you to eternal punishment if you mess up one time, even on the smallest of duties. There is no forgiveness when you live by the law.

God knows full well that no one can keep His law perfectly. Nobody has ever been or will ever be perfect in every single thought and every single word and deed at every single moment of their lives. We can never live up to the requirements of God's law. Is His law therefore irrelevant to us? Why did He even bother to give it, knowing that we all will break it?
