The Sermon on the Mount: Our Father's Righteousness

Jesus corrects the wrong teaching that most people of His day had received at the hands of the Pharisees. Their works-oriented view of salvation had reduced righteousness to mere external obedience, and made God more of a heavenly master than a heavenly Father. Jesus' central concern is to show that righteousness begins with a relationship to God as Father, and from there reflects His righteousness to the world.
