Strange Fire (Holiness)

Holiness is a huge theme in Leviticus. Today we look at one of the few narrative sections of this book of law and in this very short episode there’s a traumatic encounter with the holiness of God (Rudolf Otto called “mysterium tremendum et fascinans” – mystery that both terrifies and fascinates).

What does this passage mean for relating to God TODAY? How does it square (if at all) to the central message of Christianity (Gospel)? Is there anything here that informs us about the meaning of life and of what it means to know God? Let’s look at
