What does the Bible Say About Slavery 01 Episode 181

Today were going to start a new series covering slavery in the Bible. I intend on covering every angle of this topic before were done and give you Christians more answers to tough questions. This is a major point of contention to the secular world and we want to be able to make a good defense of the Christian faith.
Questions we will answer in this series include

• Does the Bible condone slavery?
• Is biblical slavery oppressive?
• Why doesn't the Bible explicitly condemn or forbid slavery?
• Does the Bible support raping slaves?
• Does the Bible condone holding slaves as property?
• Is it ok to beat your slave as long as he doesn't die for a few days? Exodus 21:20-21 And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished. (21) Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money.
• Does the Bible say it's ok to beat your servants?
• Does the Bible suggest slave owners keep a slave's family hostage in order to force the slave to stay forever? Exodus 21:4-5 If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out by himself. (5) And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free. What kind of family values are these?
