Suffering and Sleeping

An ancient Chinese general wrote, 'Every battle is won or lost before it is fought.' This is certainly true in spiritual warfare. Jesus teaches us how to prepare for temptation by preparing in the garden of suffering for a hilltop redemption. Suffering teaches us to be ever vigilant and always praying. If we fail at this point, we end up sleeping. That sleep may lead to eternal death or a lackluster Christian experience.
