Entering the Kingdom

Our world and our conscience tell us that we get what we deserve, but when Jesus came and opened the kingdom to all who came to him, he turned this view on its head. Some who thought they were sure of entry were disappointed and other who thought they had no chance were welcomed. In the process, Jesus unearthed what was really going on. People who said they loved God's rule, in fact, loved their wealth more. On the other hand, those who tasted the sweetness of life under Christ's reign could 'take it or leave it'. They had found what mattered most to them. Jesus said, effectively, 'If you are not ready to leave everything else behind, you haven't begun to see how much I am offering you!'
