His Sufficiency for Our Deficiency

Many who have a deficient understanding of Christian faith may be ripe to receive the full gospel. Acts 18:18-19:10 provide examples of such people.

Apollos, a Jew from Alexandria, had come further in his understanding of Jesus than the twelve disciples of John the Baptist but both Apollos and the twelve only knew a baptism of repentance and not the baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus. They were all ignorant of what Jesus had accomplished in His death and resurrection and in the outpouring of the Spirit. Here were people ripe for the full gospel. All they needed was someone to tell them. Gently explaining 'the way of God more accurately' to those who have only half the gospel may produce a wonderful outcome!
