“Alt-Christian” Covenant Gospel pt. 2 I Text: Old Covenant: (Malachi 3:1-5) New Covenant: (Colossians 1:15-20)
II Doctrine: God had promised through the Prophets that he would physically visit the Jewish Temple. He warned that his visit would be a purification for the Nation. How could the same God who said he does not dwell in a Temple made with human hands visit in this manner? By sending his beloved Son the Messiah who is the living God in the flesh. The Messiah would ransom the sons of Adam from the power of sin and begin His reign on earth. Jesus Christ established a kingdom that cannot be defeated by his death, burial, and resurrection. The Church of Jesus Christ will gradually expand his kingdom through the power of the Gospel. Jesus the Christ rules over the entire creation from his heavenly throne. The power of his blood which sealed the Gospel covenant, demands all powers on heaven and earth submit to him.
III Reasons: 1) John the Baptist would prepare Israel to meet the living God in the flesh. He called a Nation dead in it’s sins to repent before the Messiah appeared. (Malachi 3:1-5) 2) Jesus Christ the eternal would visit his creation and his covenant breaking people. (John 1:1-5; Genesis 1:1-5) 3) The blood of Jesus Christ would redeem an evergrowing Kingdom until his second coming.(Colossians 1:18-20) IV Application: 1) We must appreciate the power and position of our great King Jesus Christ. 2) Our entire life must be directed and informed by the WORD of God and not the world. 3) Jesus Christ is the Lord of the family, church, school, business, state, and every other sphere of life.
