The Good News of Salvation

185

Intro: We live in a world surrounded by death and brokenness. It's all around us. We see it and experience it in lives shattered by drugs and alcohol. We see it in outbreaks of violence in wars or on the streets or in homes. We see it in our own hearts as we battle against jealousy or bitterness or greed. It could be very easy to become overwhelmed by the state of the world, or the state of our own condition.
But in the midst of this present darkness, Jesus Christ came to bring life out of death and healing out of suffering. IS 61 is a gospel passage that tells us in rich poetic language that JC died on the cross for the sins of His people, that He conquered death so that we might live again. Since the very beginning, since the time that Adam and Eve sinned, the world has been under the power of death. But Christ has overcome sin so that death no longer reigns. Instead, JC, our redeemer reigns.
If you are hurting and under a cloud of despair thinking that there is no escape, or if you know someone suffering under the devastating brokenness of their lives, then I urgently call you to hear the good news that Jesus Christ came to bring life out of death and healing out of suffering.
