2 Pet. 2:3,14,18 And in their greed they will exploit you with false words... having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls. They have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children. …For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh….

Hypocrisy, the Woes (v. 40b; Matt. 23:1-36)

Matt. 6:5 "And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.

The Widow (vv. 41-44)

2 Cor. 8:12b-14 it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have. 13 For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened, but that as a matter of fairness 14 your abundance at the present time should supply their need, so that their abundance may supply your need, that there may be fairness.
