Concerns about Homeschool Socialization - Homeschooler Allegedly Shoots Up School

It’s a first that a homeschooled 14-year-old in South Carolina has participated in a school shooting. But, it’s not the first homeschool murder in the country. Why does the media point out the fact that he was homeschooled? That seems a necessary descriptive term in any news story where a homeschooler was involved.
