Fanning the Flames of Faith

In battle, it’s said, the best defense is a good offense. Could this also be true in spiritual warfare? Christians who stay engaged in fellowship and in serving God and others are themselves strengthened in the face of discouragement and fear. Our God-given spiritual abilities not only build up others, but strengthen us -- if we keep them in use. This is how the Apostle Paul encouraged Timothy, even as Roman persecution intensified, and false teachers distorted the gospel. Paul’s charge to Timothy is God’s charge to us today: “… Stir up the gift of God which is in you…” (2 Timothy 1:6, NKJV). In this sermon, we’ll continue our study in 2 Timothy with “Fanning the flames of faith."
