Defending the Only Gospel of God's Grace

Much intense debate started off the council in Jerusalem where the elders and apostles of the early church met to discuss critical issues about the Gospel. The account picks up with Peter drawing attention to the sovereignty of God in sending him to the Gentiles with the Gospel. As a Jewish believer he had been a key figure in witnessing Gentiles being saved by hearing and believing the Gospel, and then receiving the Holy Spirit without ever having been circumcised. He testified that God had made no distinction between Jews and Gentiles in coming to saving faith.

The Gospel of God’s grace is the only message powerful for salvation for all people, everywhere, for all time. Any attempts to alter its content by adding to it or leaving anything out are a denial of the Truth.

Defending the truth of the Gospel continues to require careful, diligent, strenuous labor in stark contrast to how quickly, with seeming little effort, heresies spread and take hold. Any compromise must be confronted directly, even publically at times. Love for fellow believers is shown by defending the truth of the Gospel, even when that means confrontation.
