Discipleship: He Knows Us First

Christian discipleship is first and foremost about knowing Christ. To know Him as Redeemer and Lord is to love Him. And to love Him is to keep His commandments. This is the context for Christ's sanctifying work. To be a disciple is to live a Godward life, looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. However, even this is Christ's work for we only know Him because He first knows us. Growth in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ is the appropriate pursuit when one has been conquered by His redeeming love.
