Surrender

73 ( 42 | 31 )

This message is about giving of our time, talents and treasures to the Lord.

Paul wrote Philippians when he was a prisoner of Rome. Paul wrote this letter in part to thank the Philippians for their support of him whilst he was in captivity.

The Philippians had sent a man called Epaphroditus to support Paul in his captivity and to bring a gift to the Apostle Paul whilst he was a prisoner in Rome.

Paul was thankful for their gift but his focus in verse 17 was the blessings and the reward that they would receive for their kindness.

The Bible commends generosity:
Jesus said: Acts 20:35 …It is more blessed to give than to receive.

The Bible is clear that God rewards generosity. No one can out give God and we serve a generous God.

God in His good generosity gives us everything we need to survive here on earth.

God out of His good generosity gave His good Son to die for the sins of the world.
Rom 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

God in His good generosity gives us the gift of eternal life when we trust Christ as our Saviour.

God in His good generosity gives all a home in Heaven who have trusted His Son.

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Our God is a generous God and all of us here should be generous to others and we should also be generous givers to the Work of God in some way.

Each of us should consider just how we should use our time, our talents and our treasure in some way for the Lord's service.
