What repentance is: repentance is a complete, spiritual change in which we turn from our sins and turn towards Christ.

Repentance involves:

1. a change of mind
2. a change of affection
3. a change of will

What repentance does:

1. repentance mourns over sin
2. repentance confesses sin
3. repentance forsakes sin

How repentance is known: true repentance is motivated by love for God. True repentance involves repenting of inward and outward sins. True repentance is inward as well as outward.
