Trial of faith

We have heard this one many times, the child that was promised is now being ordered by God to be sacrificed. If it were us entering this trial of our faith what is it that God would require us to sacrifice? Could we honestly follow through not knowing how things will work out? We have the benefit of hindsight thanks to Abraham but he only had faith. True faith is difficult to master, but Abraham shows it can be done.
