Abiding in the Son

In 1 John 2:24-28, we are shown 3 realities about
abiding.
I. Let the word of God abide in you (v. 24a, b).
A. And you will abide in the Son (v. 24c).
B. And you will abide in the Father (v. 24d).
C. And you will receive the promised eternal
life (v. 25).

II. The Holy Spirit abides in you (v. 27a).
A. But not in the deceivers (v. 26).
B. So you have no need for their teaching
(v. 27b).

1. Because the Holy Spirit teaches you
   (v. 27c).
2. Because what He teaches is true (v.
   27d).

C. So abide in Him (v. 27e).
III. Abide in the Son (v. 28a).
A. So that you have confidence when He
appears (v. 28b).
B. So that we don't shrink back in shame at
His coming (v. 28c).
