The Runaway Prophet!

Jonah is the fifth little work in the Minor Prophets. Bible teachers sometimes call Jonah the "Missionary Book of the Old Testament." God's Spirit stirred the prophet Jonah to teach two truths. First, that God is a loving and merciful king, not just of Israel, but the nations. Then second, that Jonah, the runaway prophet, is a picture of Israel (and perhaps the Church). The record of Jonah begins with a bad day in the life of the prophet: i.) a stunning command, met by, ii.) a shocking response!
