1 Samuel 3 reveals God's judgment on a priestly family that does not please Him and His choosing of a boy who does please Him. Samuel's childlike obedience and eagerness to serve is met with a challenging assignment from God--to pronounce judgment on his host and mentor. God then establishes young Samuel as a prophet in all Israel.
