Authority and Compassion of Christ

108

Mark presented his readers with a Divine, Kingly, Messiah: Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Inductive Motion: (from the particular to the general). The text flows from a synagogue, to a house and then to a village. These inductive motion of events highlight at least four things about Jesus.

1.His Authority over the spiritual world.

  • The Unclean spirit knew Jesus - "you are - the holy One of God"
** Have you come to destroy us?
2.His Authority over the natural world.
*Healed peter's Mother in Law and many
** He does not need faith or permission to act
*We love Him, because He loved us first I Jn 4:19
*We came, because He called us with an irrevocable calling 2 Th 1:9
*We believed, because He gave us life when we were dead Eph 2:1
    3.His Authority as a teacher
  • He did no teach as he Scribes do
  • validates with miracles and by casting out of demons
    4.Jesus’ compassion
  • Jesus spent the night healing them and casting out demons.

Conclusion:
Consider who has rescued you; a compassionate and authoritative savior!

  1. What afflicts you above the power of His authority or the reach of His compassion?
2 There is a world of difference between suffering forsaken and suffering protected. If you suffer in jail you have no hope, if you suffer well-cared by the best physician and nurse, you have the hope of getting well.
3 Whatever suffering we bear, Jesus has not removed it not because of inability or unwillingness, but He lets us bear the pain surrounded by His authority and compassion.

Your Savior has ALL AUTHORITY and He is also FULL OF COMPASSION and MERCY.
