Lord's Day 3 The problems of this world are not God's creation but from sin
The problems of this world are not God’s creation but they are consequences of our disobedience.
- God’s wonderful work of creation
- our disastrous deformation
- our need for reformation
Introduction:
1 Christians are often asked to pray for different people in different circumstances. (Why) should we pray for
(unbelieving) victims of natural disasters and other things that go wrong?
Point 1:
2 God created man good: what does this really mean? (Good soup; good dog; good light; good person: what
is ‘good’?)
3 Why is it important for us to know that God created Adam and Eve ‘good’? What does that prove?
Point 2:
4 How did God punish Adam and Eve’s sin? Does the punishment fit the crime?
5 How do we defend God against the accusation that God is unfair?
Point 3:
6 How does Answer 8 of the Catechism evaluate us? How good (or bad) are we?
7 Answer 8 gives us hope by focussing our attention on a point of comparison or similarity: what hope does
the catechism offer?
